Bro can you be reasonable? Purchase the game while it was free... u came out with version 4 5 AND 6 (no clue about 3) yet I can only play version 2 unless I pay monthly

How do I progress in the story mode? It says I have to unlock a scene to view it? How do I do that?
To unlock story mode you have to recruit certain characters (they are labeled as such). There are no characters like that in version 1 or 2 of the game, 3+ only.
